Burgers in Red Wine
¼ – ½ pound ground beef patty for each person
sliced onion (or dehydrated)
salt, pepper, garlic powder, herb seasoning
½ cup red wine
mushrooms (optional), fresh or canned
Allow a hearty ground beef patty to come to room temperature (one per person being served). Season the patty well on both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and herbs. Heat a skillet and sear the burger(s) on each side, allowing some brown flavor bits to form. Pour off excess fat without losing the flavor bits. Add onions and cook to soften. Add red wine to the pan. Cover and cook over medium-low heat until the meat patty is fully cooked. Remove cover and allow wine sauce to reduce to desired consistency. Add mushrooms and a little cream, if desired. Serve sauce over burger and mashed potatoes, if desired. Enjoy!
